Roma wedding photography for Tara and Michael
I had the privilege to be the Roma wedding photographer for Michael and Tara’s wedding. The couple live on the Gold Coast in Queensland Australia and decided to have their wedding in Roma due to Tara’s family history in the town. Roma is in the Maranoa region of Queensland and about 500km northwest of the capital Brisbane.
I always enjoy getting out to country areas for weddings and this wedding was no exception. The couple organized their wedding ceremony to be on the grounds of Tara’s grandmother’s house. The house had a beautiful avenue of iconic Roma Bottle Trees that lined the driveway which provided a lovely shaded space for their wedding ceremony. Tara and her bridesmaids were also able to prepare at her grandmother’s place.
The wedding ceremony was held under blue skies and perfectly conducted by Brisbane civil celebrant Terry Ryan who flew in for the service which saw about eighty guests attend.
From the wedding ceremony, we headed off for formal photos at a disused winery. On the way to the winery, I had organized a stop outside the Roma Courthouse which is a beautiful and grand looking building offering a great backdrop for some formal photos. It wasn’t until we had arrived at the courthouse that Tara told me how special the street was to the couple. As it turned out, Michael and Tara first met on this street which was an incredible coincidence for us and I was incredibly pleased that I was able to make some lovely and significant photos for the couple at this location in Roma.
The old Roma Winery provided gorgeous backgrounds for Tara and Michael’s formal wedding photography and after this, we headed back to Arthur Street for a photo outside the church Tara’s grandmother was married in.
Formal photos completed we headed around to Hibernian Hall in Hawthorne St for a great evening of fun, laughter, and good food. The beautiful old hall come theatre was built in the 1930’s and provided a lovely Roma wedding reception venue.
